ACC Tournament Schedule: Is It Going To Be Duke Or North Carolina This Year?

With The ACC Tournament Beginning Thursday, Will It Come Down To Duke and North Carolina?

The ACC conference tournament begins in just about 48 hours, but we will take a look at the brackets right now. The top four seeds all have a first-round bye, they are North Carolina, Duke, Florida State and Clemson.
The four first-round games feature Virginia-Miami, Boston College-Wake Forest, Maryland-North Carolina State and Virginia Tech-Georgia Tech.
North Carolina and Duke pretty much have their NCAA tournament seeds locked in, unless they lose in their first game of this tournament they will both be a 2-seed. Beyond that, everything in this conference is kind of a jumbled mess.
Florida State will get in the NCAA tournament regardless of what happens this week, but they would like to improve their seeding. Right now they would most likely be a 7- or 8-seed. They have a couple good wins - vs Baylor and Duke - but beyond that they didn't beat anyone of substance. They did lose a couple close games to Florida and North Carolina, which could help their argument.
Clemson, Boston College and Virginia Tech have a shot at getting in, but they will have to win their first game or hope that there aren't a lot of upsets in the mid-major conference tournaments.
After that, no one else in this conference is getting into the NCAA tournament.
North Carolina and Duke are the favorites in the ACC tournament, obviously, but don't discount Florida State. They will play the winner of Virginia Tech-Georgia Tech. They lost to Virginia Tech, but beat Georgia Tech. If they can win that game, and they play Duke in the semi-finals they can win that game because they always play Duke tough. They lost to North Carolina by just two points last Wednesday, 72-70.
North Carolina will win the ACC tournament because they are playing the best right now, but don't be surprised if it's Florida State, not Duke, they are playing in the finals.
